The Character Development of Kratos as the Main Character in the God Of War Video Game
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to analyze the character development from the God of War video game. From how the character development is portrayed and to what factors change or develop the said character by approaching it using narratological approach which converts the action inside the video game in texts. The result shows that the main character Kratos from the video game God of War experiences this character development like the character from literary counterparts. By using Haglund’s three principles of character development which divided to the first principle the overarching goal, the second principle the intrigue factor of character, the third principle the personality, background and traits, afterwards using Boggs and Petrie’s character development, this research showed that the three principles that change Kratos's character development and five out of six Boggs and Petrie’s characterization namely through dialogue, internal action, external action, caricature, appearance, and reaction that depicts the characterization and factors that change Kratos

Perkembangan Karakter Kratos sebagai karakter utama di Video Game God of War
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perkembangan karakter dari video game God Of War. Di mulai dari bagaimana sebuah perkembangan karakter digambarkan dan faktor faktor apa saja yang mengubah atau mengembangkan karakter tersebut dengan melakukan pendekatan narratological dimana aksi di dalam video game bisa diubah menjadi teks. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa karakter utama Kratos dari video game God of War mengalami perubahan karakter sama seperti karakter yang ada di materi literasi, dengan menggunakan teori Three Principle of Character Development yang dikemukakan oleh Haglund yaitu, First principle the overarching goal, the second principle the intrigue factor of character, the third principle the personality, background and traits, dan kemudian dengan Boggs and Petrie Characterization dapat ditemukan bahwa ketiga prinsip untuk Kratos berubah dan ditemukan pula bahwa lima dari enam karakterisasi Boggs and Petrie yaitu karakterisasi melalui nama, aksi internal, aksi external, karikatur, tampang, dan reaksi yang menunjukan karakterisasi dan faktor perubahan Kratos .
