The Analysis of Hierarchy of Needs in the Main Character In Red Riding Hood Movie
ABSTRACT
The study emphasizes on the analysis of hierarchy of human needs represented by the main character in Red Riding Hood film. The analysis focuses on the female character namely Valerie, a teenage girl who lives in a village. She's a successful girl to fight werewolf. Specifically, the aim of the study is to know how the main character fulfill her based on Abraham H. Maslow’s theory.
This research used qualitative research because the data were presented in words. Red Riding Hood movie was used in this research as the data source. The data consisted of dialogues, actions, and scenes that showed Valerie character. There are five levels of needs based on Abraham H. Maslow’s theory; they are, at the first level, physiological needs, Valerie can fulfill the needs easily. But at the level safety needs, love and belongingness, and esteem needs, she gets the challenge in fulfilling the needs because too many threats she had. The condition gives her spirit to fulfill the needs. That spirit make her pass through the process of life even though she has to face several obstacles. So, she can fulfill the needs very well. As the conclusion, Valerie can fulfill the needs from the lowest until the highest.
