Historiophoty in The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
ABSTRACT
The research focused on how historiophoty interpreted the historical event in The Chronicles of
Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe film. Two theories used in this research to answer two research
questions. First, the researcher used historiophoty theory by Hayden White to find out how historiophoty
interpreted The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Second, the researcher used visual
methodology to find the historical events on The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
The data sources were literary data. There were film and other sources which support the researcher
in analyzing this research. The research design was descriptive qualitative method. The method of data
collection of the research were library research and intensive watching. The researcher provided the data in
pictures and dialogues from The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Based on the analysis, the researcher drew two conclusions. Firstly, this research shows that
historiophoty could be used to interpret World War II as a setting and Christianity concept related to the author
personal experienced. Secondly, the researcher showed that there were ten historical events on The Chronicles
of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
