Jesse's Psychosocial Development in the Novel My Sisters Keeper (2004)
ABSTRACT
My Sisters Keeper is the one of the wonderful novel that describes more
clearly about psychosocial development in every character. Character is a part
important in the literary works. In this research, the researcher decides to take one
character named Jesse in the novel My Sisters Keeper by Jodi picoult. Jesse as the
side character, he has a significant role in the story. He always changes his
psychology overtime. Psychology is a study of the way in human mind
works and how it influences behavior. The researcher is using a theory of psychosocial development by Erik H
Erikson. Erikson is a Freudian ego-psychologist, the means that he accepts Freud's
ideas as basically correct, he ego was the important thing in a process of
development of human. Erikson has eight stages of psychosocial development
which formulated into psychological development theory; Infancy, Early
Childhood, Play Age, School age, Adolescence, young adult, adult hood and
Maturity. The researcher also explains the factor that changes Jesse as a dynamic, it is familial conflict. This research used a theory of rebellion child by Arnett;
